Wild Camping and Expedition Skills

This course is for those looking to learn the basics in camping and short expeditions in the UK. We will cover route planning, kit selection, food and cooking along with the ethics of wild camping in the UK. This course will be held over a minimum of two days with one night wild camp.

Day one

We’ll spend the morning looking through kit options (shelters and stoves), preparing and packing our bags as well as looking at planning good campsite location.

After setting off we’ll cover simple navigation and aim to reach the campsite with enough time to put up our tents, look at cooking different types of meal. We’ll also look at hygiene and good toilet practices.  If the weather permits we can look at some night/poor visability navigation

Day Two

In the morning we’ll have a relaxed start so we can discuss options for breakfast, re-packing processes and keeping kit dry for a second night. We’ll look at sourcing water for our onward journey. We will continue to look at navigation and what to do in an Emergency whilst out in remote areas.

This course is generally run in the Brecon Beacons National park South Wales or the Snowdonia National park North Wales
