Guided Introduction to Scrambling

Scrambling is the exciting part between walking and climbing. The day is designed to give you the opportunity to get some hands on experience on some of the classic grade 1 scrambles that are on offer. We will look at guide book interpretation, route finding and movement skills on steep ground.

On an intro to grade 1 scrambling we will more than likely tackle  one of the following classic scrambles that Snowdonia has to offer.

Crib goch

Crib Goch is described as a “knife-edged” arête in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, Wales. The name means “red ridge” in the Welsh language.  Once we have tackled this classic scramble we can then continue up to the summit Snowdon and descend from here or if you want to make a longer day we can continue with the Snowdon horseshoe (optional)

Tryfan

Tryfan is a mountain in the Ogwen Valley, Snowdonia, Wales. It forms part of the Glyderau group, and is one of the most famous and recognisable peaks in Britain, having a classic pointed shape with rugged crags. At 917.5 metres (3,010 feet) above sea level it is the fifteenth-highest mountain in Wales. The name “Tryfan” is derived from its historical Welsh name of “Tri-faen”. “Tri” meaning three and “faen” meaning rocks which makes reference to the 3 rocky humps seen on the mountain’s summit. This scramble will take you up Tryfans North ridge and past the iconic “cannon stone” where you can have your photo taken.  we will then head to the summit of Tryfan and gain the freedom of the mountain but only if you take the leap between  Adam and Eve.

Cost per person £55.00

Thank you Craig Francis from 365 Mountain adventures. I've been lead superbly on some tough mountain walks and climbs such as the Snowdon horse shoe and Tryfans north ridge stopping off at some exciting key features which I would never have found without an experienced leader. Having done some mountaineering when I was younger it was great to get a better understanding on the mountains themselves and how to navigate up and more importantly off them.

365 mountain adventures gives you the opportunities to do so and would recommend them to anyone.
